It's the first signing that's really got me smiling. What a move to put the Reverend Richard Coles on Strictly. And if the social media response is anything to go by, we have a sparkling star of a Strictly contestant in the making.

Let's face it, on paper he's a recipe for comedy glory writ large. Pop star turned vicar is a CV so rare it may only apply to him while his recent presenting career across the BBC has been filled with dry wit and self deprecating humour. Match him with an ambitious professional who knows the power of the comedy dance and you might just make Strictly dynamite. To be honest, I'm thinking Anton. There is too much potential here for all kinds of SCD history.
Me: "I'm doing #Strictly". Mum: (Pause) "Oh well... you'll be done by Michaelmas".— Richard Coles (@RevRichardColes) August 11, 2017
On the other hand, his mum might be right, telling him he'll be out by Michelmas (29th September). Who knows in the unpredictable world of the glitterball? But I do know this is the first signing this year to break the Strictly mould and really get people talking. That's got plenty of potential in itself. Suddenly, Strictly 2017 is shaping up to be interesting.
